Mehreen Mughal, Ph.D.
Mehreen is a postdoc interested in developing methods to learn about adaptation. She is currently investigating the effects of background selection and genetic hitchhiking on genomic diversity. She completed her PhD in Bioinformatics and Genomics with Dr. Michael DeGiorgio at Penn State University. Her dissertation work involved developing statistical methods that use the spatial distribution of genetic diversity to identify and learn about genomic regions under positive selection. She received a B.A. in Genetics from Rutgers University and M.S. in Bioinformatics from Georgetown University. Mehreen joined the Siepel lab in late 2020.
